All-year-round sports and recreation infrastructure on Lake Ukiel “Słoneczna Polana” Water and Ice Sailing Center

Construction and executive design of a year-round sports and recreation infrastructure on Lake Krzywym in Olsztyn was created as a result of winning an architectural competition (in a consortium with the Olsztyn offices of Piotr Bąk and Grzegorz Dżus). The designed cubature objects blend in with the surrounding area, and their roofs are designed as “green roofs” constituting a natural extension of the existing hill. The land development project is aimed at the maximum “restoration” of the landscape and natural values of this place.
Two main objects are planned on the site: the building of the Water and Ice Sailing Center and the Hangar building with water and ice equipment rental and a boatbuilding workshop.
The buildings are “tied” together as an amphitheater square overlooking the panorama of the city of Olsztyn. The facilities are equipped with modern and ecological heating and ventilation systems. The investment also includes the construction of a marina with piers for about 100 vessels, a year-round toboggan run, a water ski track, and sports fields.
